Kristina Bauer of the Lufthansa Training & Conference Center Seeheim has been named “Receptionist of the Year 2009”. The winning 24-year-old was one of a total of six candidates from all over Germany who were selected for the competition, which was held in Frankfurt. It took place at Rocco Forte’s Villa Kennedy on the southern banks of the Main.

For this year’s competition, the candidates first had to answer a number of specialist question in English, and then take part in a challenging role play. In it, she had to deal with a guest who wanted to pay his bar bill at the end of his stay without leaving any form of a guarantee.

Just how close the competition was is evident from the fact that there were four winners in third place. And yet Kristina Bauer emerged as the overall winner. “Winning this competition means a tremendous amount to me. Above all, I hope that it will enable me to progress in my career,” she said. The talented receptionist has been a Front Desk Agent at the Lufthansa Training & Conference Center in Seeheim since February 2009. Following this success, she will be taking part in the international competition in Madrid with employees from the hotel industry from all over the world.

The title “Receptionist of the Year” is awarded by the Amicale Internationale des Sous-Directeurs et Chefs de Réception des Grands Hôtels A.I.C.R. To find out more, please go to www.aicr-germany.de.
