Close to nature and with good traffic connections – Excursion destinations in the area around Seeheim

In the Lufthansa Training & Conference Centre Seeheim the conference atmosphere becomes one with nature – active regeneration and a modern infrastructure complement each other ideally. Located in the heart of the Rhein-Main-Neckar region and yet at the same time situated picturesquely on a ridge of the  Odenwald forest, the Lufthansa conference hotel appears at first glance to be somewhat  removed from the real world. At the same time, the guests profit from its outstandingly good traffic connections: Frankfurt and Heidelberg can be reached within half an hour; Darmstadt is in the immediate vicinity.

Jogging paths and half-timbered romanticism
This charming low mountain range offers a lot of space for active regeneration. Joggers and bike-riders alike can enjoy paths that are well-constructed and well-signposted – the romanticism of the half-timbered houses and historic settings are also a source of inspiration to hikers. The castle Heiligenberg in Jugenheim, once the ancestral seat of the Battenbergs, can also be reached on foot. The most famous offspring of that family is Prince Philip, who, under the English name of “Mountbatten”, married Queen Elisabeth II.

Culture and history
Heidelberg not only has the oldest university in Germany to offer, but also a charming old town. The world-famous castle, high above the banks of the Neckar, affords an impressive view of the city and surrounding countryside. The scientific centre Darmstadt attracts with a visit to the “Mathildenhöhe”, which, with the setting up of its artists’ colony in 1899, advanced to be the “Centre of German Art Nouveau.” Its highlights are the Wedding Tower and the Russian Chapel dating from 1897. A trip to the mediaeval town of Michelstadt is also very rewarding.

Shopping in Frankfurt
Anyone travelling to Frankfurt by car cannot fail to see it: the skyline made up of the skyscrapers of so-called “Mainhattan”, that remind one of the “Big Apple”, is probably unique in Germany. Shopping, museums or the opera – the nearby metropolis offers all the facets of a modern major city. But Frankfurt also has its tranquil sides. The historical city centre and the typical “Ebbelwoi-Wirtshäuser” (Apple Wine pubs) invite you to linger a while after your shopping experience.
